Memory.

History.

Connection.

I’m Olivia Castetter.

I combine historical research, personal narrative, and advocacy to explore memory, justice, and the stories that shape our lives.

I work at the intersection of memoir and history, where personal testimony and public record meet.

As a memoirist, my writing engages the #MeToo Movement, narrative repair, and the long afterlife of lived experience.

As a historian, I focus on public-facing research that brings overlooked stories into view with a particular focus on children of the Civil Rights Movement, women and children during twentieth century wars, and the history of women’s reproductive rights.

I am interested in what is remembered, what is silenced, and what it takes to voice our stories.

    Me, Too: Voicing My Story

“Castetter’s Me, Too is raw, compassionate, and self-reflective, as it gently guides the reader through the author’s life, highlighting the connections between what society teaches young girls and boys and the resulting proliferation of sexual violence. This book is a powerful guidebook for survivors and non-survivors alike, exposing the roots of sexual abuse and assault, laying bare the destruction that occurs in the aftermath, and then demonstrating with her own story that personal healing and societal change are, in fact, within reach.”

This, Too: All Our Stories Matter

Olivia is fighting for a world in which survivors of all kinds of abuse—including victims of misconduct—are heard, validated, and empowered. A world in which trauma survivors are treated as equals, even when their trauma varies. If our #MeToo stories are about community and solidarity, then so is this, too.

    Almost: A Memoir of Belonging

A story of discovering how our relationships can define chapters of our lives, Almost: A Memoir of Belonging takes you by the hand to walk alongside Olivia as she is thrust unexpectedly into the past and is forced to face memories she never wanted to have. Realizing she has the power to change the future for herself and her children, Olivia embarks on a journey of healing and breaking generational cycles.
