In the spring of 2020, Olivia was focused on her future. She was married, had two young children, and had recently begun to renovate their home; she was focused on the well-being of her family as she worked to structure the life she'd always wanted. But then she received a phone call with the news that her former teacher was being investigated for allegations of sexual misconduct with his students, and she was immediately pulled back into memories from more than a decade earlier and forced to re-examine the way her life had unfolded.

As a young teenager, Olivia was searching for a family of her own; her father had abandoned her on her twelfth birthday and her mother emotionally neglected her. When she joined the theater department at her high school, she forged friendships over shared passions and was mentored by her theater teacher, who encouraged her to chase her dreams and looked out for her; she'd found the family she'd been longing for, even if it meant ignoring signs that things were not as they seemed. When that same teacher left her school suddenly amidst complaints that he had sexual relationships with students, Olivia was left feeling abandoned and alone all over again, leaving her vulnerable as she searched for the connection she was missing at home.

Almost takes you by the hand to walk alongside Olivia as she is thrust unexpectedly into the past and is forced to face memories she never wanted to have, but you also discover together the connections between her need for family and the power of vulnerability in ways that can destroy and empower us alike. It's a story of discovering how our relationships can define chapters of our lives, and how we have the power to change the ending.
